Vista in the Pearl is a high rise tower in the North pearl District. The facade consists of two primary skin materials, and aluminum curtainwall windows. The North and South facades are wrapped with textured Equitone panels.
The East and West faades are wrapped with stucco clad balconies. Triangle shaped dividers seperate balconies from adjoing units, conceal a location for utilities, and provide texture to a deep facade.
The main entrance provides light by LED panel fixtures above a horizontal glass window system. This provides a flat uniform light across the entrance with no shadows on the ground due to the wide source of lighting.
The equitone paneling was carfully detailed to minimise waste. Several small panels are cut from larger panels, and large panels are used at the size they are manufactured from the factory.
Solids and voids in the facade are carefully coordinated to create clear entrances points for ground floor units, while acoomidating the need for flow through planters to treat rainwater that falls on the roof.
A custom laser cut aluminum panel provided the mechanical screening. Adding additional triangles to the pattern allowed for a 30, 40, and 50 percent open screen. This allowed for air intakes, garage doors, and trash rooms at various amounts of perforation.
